World Champs Update
The past few days have been absolutely brilliant in The Gong and it is a massive credit to the organisers, local council, sponsors, volunteers and athletes. If you have never been to a World Triathlon championships you can still check it out in person or online (TriathlonLive.tv, Kayo and Fox Sports). Two days of racing to go.
Central West Tri Clubs at Wollongong 2025
Congratulations to our Piranha clubmates and the triathletes from the Central West Clubs - Bathurst Wallabies, Mudgee Red Devils, Dubbo Hippos and Cowra Cobras - it was great to get some pics with you all in the green and gold There is a lots of friendly rivalry when it comes to our local Interclub but the camaraderie between the clubs shown brilliantly yesterday at the Parade of Nations for the Wollongong World Champs.
2025 WORLD TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS - WOLLONGONG - Go Piranhas Go
Over the past 12 months our members have competed in a number of qualifying events in an effort to obtain the honour of wearing the green and gold at this week’s massive World Championships. The next 5 days will be huge for some of our local Orange Piranhas. We have 10 members representing OTC in the Australian Age Group and U23 Team at the 2025 World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong.
Ironman Port Mac wrap-up
Congratulations to all four of our members who tackled Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 last Sunday. The day didn’t arrive without a late night distraction on Saturday night when the swim leg of both events was cancelled due to low tide and poor water quality. The wet weather on the previous few days had washed lots of contaminates into the swim course.
The good news was that both events went ahead successfully with the sunshine giving some relief from the rain.
Rory Thornhill takes on Asia Triathlon Cup Osaka Castle
Best wishes to Orange’s Rory Thornhill who is racing at the Asia Triathlon Cup Osaka Castle today. The Elite Men are taking on the Sprint Distance 750m swim, 20km bike and 5k run. Good luck Rory.
