President's Report for season 2025/26
Orange Triathlon Club had a very good season and want to acknowledge that we achieved what we set at the start of the season:
1. Grow membership by 10% - we just hit that target
2. Have electronic timing for our Sunday events - we did that
3. Have a successful Juniors weekend - over 115 junior triathletes and great feedback
4. Win back the Central West Interclub Championship Trophy - we did that by such a skinny margin (maybe 1 or 2 participants), and congrats to Mudgee, Bathurst, Dubbo and Cowra for their seasons.
However our members need to know it was not all plain sailing. We did stretch our volunteer pool to the limit in 2025/26 and we seek to broaden this pool of vollies for next season. The committee has started brainstorming ideas to make it easier to volunteer on race mornings, and also spread the load on some of the pre and post activities we need to continue as a successful volunteer run sporting club.
I will write and speak more about these at the start of season 26/27.
A big thank you to our members, their families, and our volunteers. Thank you to the support we get from Orange City Council for the quality at Gosling Creek, Orange Bush Nippers for water safety at three events, and your terrific committee in Will Ward, Sam Bayada, Simon Lun, Sonia Bayada (Secretary), Megan Goodwin (Treasurer) and Scott Wallace (Vice President). Congratulations to our well deserving award winners who we recognised at our presentation on 17 May at Waratahs.
We finished the presentation on 17 May with declaring all committee positions vacant and had the election of the committee for season 26/27 with the following result:
President: Dave Hunter
Vice President: Scott Wallace
Treasurer: Megan Goodwin
Secretary: Sonia Bayada
Committee: Simon Lun, Sam Bayada, Connor Casen and Julie Middleton
Designated Integrity Officer: Carolyn Egan - note this role must be someone not on committee
A big thank you to Will Ward who has stepped down from committee. I think this was the first time we've had an international presence for OTC monthly meetings with Will video calling from near Christchurch in NZ for the second half of the season. Thank you Will and the good news is we haven't lost him to the club, he will help where he can when he returns to Aust.
Some dates for the diary for our largest two Gosling Creek events for season 26/27:
Orange Tri Club's 10th Juniors Weekend: 28/29 Nov 2026
Orange Interclub: Sun 07 Feb 2027
The dates for the rest of our local club events will be shaped around the Interclub dates of our Central West colleagues, All Schools, and other major events like the Orange Running Festival. We will likely have these in late August and share with you.
Thanks, Dave Hunter
