Ironman Port Mac wrap-up

Congratulations to all four of our members who tackled Ironman Australia and Ironman 70.3 last Sunday. The day didn’t arrive without a late night distraction on Saturday night when the swim leg of both events was cancelled due to low tide and poor water quality. The wet weather on the previous few days had washed lots of contaminates into the swim course.

The good news was that both events went ahead successfully with the sunshine giving some relief from the rain.

Congratulations to Paul Eccleston who completed his 5th Ironman Australia in a time of 10:29:59 with some good consistency in the bike and run legs.

A big cheers to Ian McNeill who completed his first Ironman event. Ian had a time of 13:45:42 which whilst it wasn’t his desired time he learned plenty from the day regarding pacing, nutrition and digging in to get the job done. I’m sure Ian will be rearing for another Ironman event in the near future to put the 3 legs together.

Congratulations on a podium finish by Emma Fessey who continued her 70.3 success this season with finishing 3rd in her Age Group in a time of 4:12:39 and in the top 20 females overall. It was a very close race with less than a minute between 2nd and 3rd place.

Logan Dolbel finished strong with a time of 4:48:32 and looked like he enjoyed the run. Well done Logan.

Great to see club support in the finish chute.
